Star Wars Marathon 2017

The amazing Mrs Clarke and Mrs Wilson ran a whole marathon down by the river on May 4th.  They were joined by an army of Fishergate mums and dads as well as the whole school.  Each child from Year 1-6 joined in with the running fun and ran a mile with our marathon heroes!

This year’s marathon was run in support of Cancer Research UK.  Thank you to all the children and their families for supporting this cause through sponsorship.

If you haven’t already donated and would like to the link to Mrs Clark’s just giving page is here:

North Yorkshire Gymnastics Finals 2017

Following the success at the York finals three weeks ago, the year 1/2, year 3/4 and year 5/6 gymnastics teams travelled to Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick to represent the city of York, in the North Yorkshire Games finals on Wednesday 5th April. We were up against the best gymnastic squads from around North Yorkshire including teams from: Harrogate, Scarborough, Selby, Ryedale, Craven, Hambleton and Richmondshire.

All three of our teams performed fantastically well on the day, and were a credit to the school for their effort, their Fishergate ‘sense of fun’ and for their sportsmanship. The year 1/2 team just missed out on the medal positions, finishing in 4th place, the year 3/4 team finished a respectable 5th, whilst the year 5/6 team finished in 6th place against some very strong gymnastic squads.

A special thanks must go to Miss Heyes and Miss Deverall for putting so much effort into training the gymnasts and to Mr Kelly for supporting the year 5/6 team on the day. Thanks to parents and grandparents who kindly gave the children lifts to and from the venue. But most of all a big thank you to the children for their hard work, we hope they are very proud of themselves (we are!).
