Super Science at half term

Fishergate students are such keen scientists – even outside of school they love to extend their learning!  If you carry out some exciting scientific enquiries at home, at the weekend or in the school holidays, you can ask Mrs Ekers if you can share your discoveries here on our website.

This pupil learned to use two different sorts of pipette to carefully and accurately measure liquids when they carried out a chemistry experiment at the Centre for Life in Newcastle – and made a rainbow!  The “universal indicator” shows how acid or alkali a solution is by changing colour.

Fishergate Eisteddfod

Thank you to everybody that came to the Fishergate Eisteddfod on Tuesday this week, it really was a huge success! We had performance poetry from each class and musical interludes from recorder groups, pianists, drummers, vocalists, flautists, violinists, guitarists and even the flugelhorn!…

A visit to Y5/6 from Christian Aid

On Wednesday 5th April, Y5/6 had  a visitor from Christian Aid to talk to them about the work of this charity. This was to tie in with their R.E. unit, where they have been exploring the question from the City of York  Syllabus  ‘Is it better to express your religion in arts and architecture or in charity and generosity?’

We learnt about how Christian Aid has  a vision to end poverty, and works with partner agencies all over the world to tackle issues such as the problems of climate change, and the  refugee crisis.
