Mother’s Day Stall

All children are invited to shop for mums, grandmas and other special people at our stall, which will be set up in the playground after school this Friday 13th March. We’ll have lovely daffodil pots available for £2.00 each, plus a variety of card-making kits and badges created by an artistic mother-daughter duo from our school.

Just a little more help…

Our list of wonderful helpers is steadily growing for the Spring Disco on Friday 20th March, and we just need a few more roles filled. It’s heartwarming to see a Year 7 student kindly offering to return and assist with a stall! Get in touch at friendsoffishergateschool@gmail.com to lend a helping hand. BannerBuzz is generously providing us with a high-quality banner where the families of Fishergate can find the latest and greatest initiatives, fun events info and other notices from our school’s very active and dedicated PTA. BannerBuzz provides a diverse range of promotional products and tools and we are so grateful that they will be delivering a quality banner to us, free of charge, as our group is a registered charity dedicated to supporting our wonderful school. Mother’s Day Flower Stall

Children can share their love with mothers, grandmothers and others by visiting our stall after school on Friday 13th March. Daffodil pots will be sold at £2.00 each, plus we’ll have badges and card-making kits for sale too!

Book vending machine progress

Our fundraising is going strong! We’ve reached out to the local press to share our effort. Thanks to amazing donors, we’ve raised £740.00. Doubling this will help us to reach our goal by Easter. Keep an eye out for ways to help spread the word!

Bake sale

Thank you to all who came to support our bake sale earlier this week, and we couldn’t have done it without the Year 1/2’s brilliant bakes and our lovely parent helpers who ran the stall. It’s time for another bake sale! Do come see us in the lower hall on Monday at 3:15pm for delicious treats brought in by our Year 1/2 families. Items are sold at 50p each.

Spring Disco

Now that we have finally had a dose of sunshine this week, we’re sure you’re all ready for the big Spring Disco! Get ready to dance the night away on Friday 20th March. Below are timings and children are admitted at £2.00 each.

• 6:00pm – 7:00pm Early Years & Key Stage 1
• 7:15pm – 8:15pm Key Stage 2

Helpers needed for the disco

Can you help for 1 hour? We need two helpers per stall, so grab a friend and let us know if you would like to help at a stall with food and drinks, selling accessories or badge-making. The Year 3/4s will be selling yummy treats at 3:15pm on Monday 9th February. Items are nut-free and sold at 50p each, small change is appreciated and we have a handy card reader now too!

Lend a helping hand

If you are available on Monday the 9th before pick-up time, could you help out at the bake sale? Two fabulous parents have already volunteered, but we would love another 1-2 people to help set up and run the stall as well. These events don’t take very long as items sell out quickly. The manga books are here!

For the uninitiated, children’s manga books are Japanese comics and graphic novels for children aged 9+. They provide a fun slice of Japanese culture and offer diverse stories that go beyond traditional literature.

Friends of Fishergate are delighted to have funded this exciting new addition to our school’s library. We love supporting our young readers and these visually captivating books are sure to broaden the reading horizons for the Year 5/6 students.Friends of Fishergate

We’re meeting at 6.30pm on Tuesday 10th February at the bar in Novotel once again. There is much to chat about, newcomers are always welcome to join the fun.

Pre-loved uniforms on Monday

Come along at 3.15pm on Monday 26th January to the lower hall. All uniform items are absolutely free and you’ll find items are sorted by age, thanks to our fabulous volunteers. School shoes and winter coats are also available. While cash donations are happily accepted, they’re not necessary.

Christmas design project

A massive thank you to all families who purchased art cards, mugs, and more featuring their children’s artwork! We raised a fantastic £262.50, all of which goes towards enriching our children’s experience at school. There were so many lovely pieces of artwork, we hope you enjoyed the cards and other items. And a special thank you to Caroline Burt, our teachers, and the amazing Helen and Emma in the school office, this project could not have happened without your helpFriends of Fishergate

Evening meetings for the win

What a fantastic night! We are still buzzing from the success we experienced by shifting our meeting time to the evening. The Novotel bar was just the right blend of warm and cosy, and we’re thrilled to welcome our new and lovely members. Your contributions were fabulous and we see more fun times ahead!

Planning meeting next Tuesday

As always, our busy team is feeling energised by fun events planning and an exciting literacy rewards project. We need you! We are looking for fresh ideas to further shape school events and goals, and your ideas matter a great deal to us. Won’t you join us at our next planning meeting? You only need to bring yourself and any ideas you might have. We’ll be meeting out of the regular school and work hours this time and you can find us at the Novotel hotel bar at 6:30pm on Tuesday 13th January (Fishergate, York YO10 4FD).
