On Saturday 10th of January 25 children, accompanied by their parents, boarded a coach and headed north for the Stadium of Light thanks to tickets kindly donated from Imphal Barracks.Braving freezing temperatures and gale force winds we huddled together in the Sunderland end of the stadium, clinging on to hot cups of tea! Amongst us were a few Liverpool fans who were sat very uneasily , aware that cheering for their team would not go down particularly well with the thousands of Sunderland fans they shared the stadium with. The cold was soon forgotten as the two teams kicked off, and when Liverpool managed to grab a scrappy goal there was jubilation amongst (some of) us! We headed back to the coach after a great days football, being particularly thankful for the coaches heaters! All the children made sure their parents behaved really well and everybody really enjoyed the experience! Many thanks to RSM John Stephenson for the opportunity. |
