The School Council and the Champions of Change team are working together on the National campaign: Send my Friend to School 2016.
This year’s campaign is focusing on the 37 million children across the world who are out of school in crisis affected countries. These include millions of refugee children who have been forced to leave their homes and schools because of war or natural disasters.
Our campaign week will take place from Monday 27th June to Friday 1st July. Pupils will deliver an assembly on Monday 27th June introducing all KS1 and KS2 pupils to the campaign. Pupils will be given paper rucksacks to make. They will be asked to think about what they would put in their rucksack if they had to leave their home and school. They will also be asked to write messages for world leaders urging them to help those children in need.
On Friday 1st July Rachael Maskell MP will once again be coming into school. We will pass on every rucksack that has been made and we will ask her to take these to the Prime Minister.
The School Council and Champions of Change team will be following this up with an assembly on Thursday 7th July.
We would like to thank all pupils who supported this campaign last year and hope they do so again this time. We think that it is truly important that all children across the world, no matter who they are of where they come from, are able to go to school. They deserve an education just like us.
