Friday 26th June 2015 is national ‘Send My Friend to School’ day. The school council arranged for our school to be part of this national day of action.
‘Send My Friend to School’ is a global campaign that aims to bring to the attention of world leaders that 58 million children across the world still do not go to school.
Children at Fishergate created their own world leaders and expressed what they would do as leaders. Some of our ideas in Key Stage 1 were to: ‘train more teachers’, ‘build more schools’ and ‘give resources to schools that need them’.
Our local MP Rachel Maskell came to see all the work we are doing in support of ‘Send My Friend to School’ day and will be taking the world leaders that we have made to downing street for the Prime Minister to look at ahead of his attendance to the UN summit in New York later this year.
