Today we were visited by the author, Sue Ellis. Sue is a former teacher and has written six short stories.
Each story focuses on a bird and is set in a different British location, each personal to Sue, including Liverpool, where she was born, and York, where she lives now – all with colourful illustrations.
Each of the six stories has a clear moral in the style of an Aesop’s Fable. The book is aimed at children aged between six and 11.
Themes in the book include bullying and leadership, resilience, keeping safe and being the best you can be.
Sue delivered an assembly using her character Sunny Funny owl then worked in each class using ‘Robin Redbreast’ (building resilience), Gorgeous Gwendolyn (team work) and keeping safe.
Your child will be able to tell you all about their time with Sue!
