On Wednesday 10th June, Fishergate pupils from Year 3/4 took part in the York Partnership Tennis festival at Wigginton Tennis Club. Eight schools from around the city entered to event, with teams being split into two pools of four. Players each played three matches, with the first player to reach seven points winning the game.
For the girls, Year 3 pupils Charlotte Hemlin and Ruby Shaw were representing the school, whilst Year 4 students Akshar Cowgli and Ashwin Tamang represented the boys. All of our players put in a fantastic display, demonstrating excellent effort and sportsmanship throughout. A special mention should go to Ruby Shaw, who won all of her 3 matches in a fantastic display of tennis.
With the leagues being decided on the combined number of points won across the 12 matches, the players were really unlucky to lose out on a place in the final to Robert Wilkinson by just a single point!
Players from Year 5/6 will take part in their own competition next week.
